Properly Control The Relation Of Rotation Speed And Filling Ratio Of Ball Mill

The grinding capacity of ball mill is in proportion to rotation speed. But after increasing the rotation speed, we should decrease the filling ratio of steel balls, or it will reduce the capacity. Test shows that, if other conditions are the same, the critical rotation speed is decided by the filling ratio of steel balls. The larger the filling ratio, the smaller of the critical rotation speed. When the rotation speed is fixed, the larger the filling ratio, the higher the production efficiency will be.

Properly Choose Grinding Medium

Steel ball is the main grinding medium in ball mill. If the specific gravity and size of steel balls are large, then the impact effect is also large. If the steel balls have excellent abrasive resistance and high hardness, then the grinding force of steel balls is also strong. In this case, while grinding mineral ores with high hardness and dense structure, we should add more steel balls with larger size and specific gravity. But in order to effectively grind the fine mineral ores and to increase the impact times in unit time, we should increase the numbers of small steel balls. All in all, we should choose forged steel or cast steel balls with high hardness of excellent toughness.

The size, filling ratio and re-filling ratio of steel balls have greatly influence on the operation and grinding efficiency of ball mill.

The size of steel balls is decided by the specific gravity of steel balls, components of minerals in ball mill, the required fineness and the physical properties of minerals etc. According to experience, the larger size and higher hardness of raw minerals, the size of steel balls should also be larger. After deciding the diameter of steel balls and the feeding size of minerals, we should decide the filling ratio of steel balls according to the properties of feeding mineral.
